Oh man this post has been long overdue! Where do I even begin with this one? I will start out by saying that in 2018 I worked my tail off + I made a promise to myself that in 2019 I would take the opportunity to travel more-whether personally or professionally, I’m here for it.
In January I pulled the trigger on some tickets to San Diego for a private design workshop with my floral idol + angel flower whisperer, Rachael Ann Lunghi of Siren Floral Co. So far this year I have traveled to California, Texas + Amsterdam + San Diego was my favorite! Have you been to San Diego? It’s basically a unicorn-land. The weather is great, the people are soooo laid back + the food scene is hoppin’.
Rachael truly is a gem + any client that gets to work with her is incredibly lucky. She has impeccable style + taste + her floral designs look effortless. What a dream! I am still pinching myself. It was a gift to be able to have this experience + I am glad I took the leap to go there, meet her + work together.
We started the morning w/ pastries + tea in the studio + got to know each other then began our bouquet demos before the model + photographer arrived. When they arrived we setup the back drop + chose what dresses to match up the bouquets to. Mike Radford traveled down the west coast to photograph our session + was so kind. He talked about his family + surfing…which is a topic we never bring up in Ohio so I was pretty much losing my mind out of excitement (+ probably nerves because I was in awe that this was my reality for a few days).
Lyndsay was our model + so gracefully posed w/ the flowers. Her makeup + hair were perfect w/ the floral palette we chose for the day.
After the bouquets were done, we moved onto our centerpiece tablescape. Rachael opened my eyes to a whole new way of designing in this big flower world + I’m so grateful for our time together. Now that I have this travel bug, where will this wanderlust take me next? Any suggestions for future travels?
With wedding season in full swing, keeping up with all the tasks of running a small business keeps me busy, but taking time to reflect + talk about our joys rather than our rambles about complaints is good for the soul. I hope these photos help brighten your week + add a little sunshine to your life! Signing off for puppy snuggles, a quick day trip maybe + always flowering on my mind.
